Dolly Parton, Melissa Etheridge, David Sanborn and Spinal Tap are among the concerts just announced for the 1992 season of the I.C. Light Amphitheatre and Tent, Station Square. The schedule so far includes 21 confirmed concerts and food/ethnic festivals, running from May 22 to Sept. 27.
Here's the lineup, with all shows scheduled for the amphitheater unless otherwise noted:
-- May 22, 23 and 24 -- Pittsburgh Folk Festival (amphitheater and tent).
-- June 5, 8 p.m. -- Melissa Etheridge and Jeffrey Gaines, 8 p.m.
-- June 13, 8 p.m. -- David Sanborn.
-- June 21, 7:30 p.m. -- Spinal Tap, 7:30 p.m.
-- June 27, 8 p.m. -- Laser Spectacular, with recorded music by Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
-- June 28, 7:30 p.m. -- Funnybone World Series of Comedy, with Billy Elmer, Rockwell, Kozak, Scott Paulsen and Jimmy Krenn.
-- July 3, 6 p.m. -- WDVE Rocker, with local bands (tent).
-- July 8, 7:30 p.m. -- Reggae Sunsplash 1992 with Aswad, Lucky Dube, Barrington Levy, John Holt, Pappa San, Skool and emcee Tommy Cowan.
-- July 14, 7:30 p.m. -- Willie Nelson.
-- July 18, 8 p.m. -- Paula Poundstone (tent).
-- Aug. 1, 8 p.m. -- Dolly Parton.
-- Aug. 2, 7:30 p.m. -- Jabalaya Mardi Gras Festival with Buckwheat Zydeco, Mon Gumbo (amphitheater and tent). 7:30 p.m.
-- Aug. 8, 6 p.m. -- WDVE Regatta Rocker with local bands.
-- Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m. -- George Thorogood and Little Feat.
-- Aug. 19, 8 p.m. -- World Beat '92 Reggae Fest, with Burning Spear and Jimmy Cliff.
-- July 3, 4 and 5 -- Seafood Festival (amphitheater and tent).
-- Aug. 22 and 23 -- Barbecue Cookoff and Music Festival (amphitheater and tent.
-- Sept. 4, 5 and 6 -- Italian Festival (amphitheater and tent).
-- Sept. 11, 12 and 13 -- Irish Festival (amphitheater and tent).
-- Sept. 18, 19 and 20 -- Oktoberfest (amphitheater and tent).
-- Sept. 25, 26 and 27 -- International Festival.
Ed Traversari, of DiCesare-Engler, said the dates of the Sanborn, Spinal Tap and Little Feat/Thorogood shows could change by a day or two.
Tickets for Melissa Etheridge, the Laser Spectacular, Funnybone World Series of Comedy and Reggae Sunsplash will go on sale Monday at CoGo's, National Record Mart, Horne's Downtown and the Palumbo Center. All seats are reserved at the amphitheater and general admission in the tent. The only ticket prices announced so far are for Etheridge -- $18.75 and $15.75.
Traversari also said the amphitheater has tentatively booked Santana for July 20 and the Black Crowes for Aug. 17. A few more shows will be announced as the season progresses.
